It’s been a while

It’s been a while since I posted (well maybe not here on my website, but that’s because I am bit by bit transferring over old blog posts to my new website server!)

I wanted to come on here and let you know a few things.

1) I am still creating and still have things coming your way! Thoughts and pondering posts, fun photography, history or other misc. stories, more books, and other surprise projects coming soon!

2) This year I am taking a different approach to social media. When I do it because I feel I “have to” or because “that’s the way social media and algorithms work” my brain rebels.

It’s fine to want to grow on social media, make a business, work for yourself, be recognized for your books/work, etc. But that can’t be the main reason. You need to do it because you love it. When I force myself to post, I don’t love it. It feels forced and disingenuous. I get wrapped up in the wrong things (p.s I think this is most people! It’s so easy to lose track of our “why”) and i’m unhappy.

So, I am going to be a little rebel and post when I have something to say/want to, not because I feel I need to put out content as per online social media/online creator “rules” or algorithms.

I’m aiming for a more organic approach. Back to the days pre-social media where companies would advertise sure, but many of them would mostly rely on word of mouth. If people like their product/business/art they would tell people and that was what created traction.

In short I want to go about social media/my online presence in a way which feels more organic and genuine to me. I’ve been making progress, but still have some exploring to do to find what feels right.

Right now, what feels right is what I outlined below. Which means, posts coming, things in the work, but I won’t be forcing myself to post every week if I don’t want to. And who knows sometimes I might post many times a week, but only because it feels right to do so.

That’s it for now!
